A Retro Photography Experience: Swansea Gardens (In Vintage Summer Recipe And Square Crop)

As I strive to turn back the time with photography, and await the arrival of my new camera (you’ll see it soon!), I took to the gardens and landscapes of Swansea with my photography group and had a plan to really take photographs in a way I honestly haven’t tried before. It was the hottest day of the year, with an Amber weather warning, but it was great!

Armed with my Fujifilm X-T3 and 18-135mm lens, I set up the camera for square 1:1 ratio photographs, and loaded the Vintage Summer recipe. My aim, even more challenging than ever before, take the photos in this way, and apply not a single bit of editing to the final photos, except add a frame from authenticity. No exposure correction, no straightening horizons and no sharpness or contrast. Purely straight from camera, with every setting chosen by me. *Images were resized for upload.

So, there we have it! Swansea Singleton Gardens and Brynmill Park Swansea. I am more than happy with the results, and it’s got me in the mood for my new camera, which is arriving in the coming days! There’s just some freedom felt in getting everything prepared before hand, you have much more time to take photos, and don’t have to concern yourself with going through the images later to edit. Of course, as always, I did take the images in raw and jpeg, and there will be a selection of images converted in Fujifilm X Raw Studio coming very soon.

  1. Hi Mark,
I like the Pictures, now that you’ve resized them, the square format looks great, and the polaroid frame fits your recipe perfectly.
    Great!
I’m curious about your new camera – curious what you bought.
    Marc.
