It has been a busy few weeks with photography and family, plus the last few days I have not been feeling 100% as my blood pressure is playing up a bit. It is also very wet and windy outside, but I knew I just needed to stretch my legs today and do what I love to do best. Shutter Therapy.
For me, shutter therapy is getting out there with the camera and no plan about what you are going to photograph. I picked up my Nikon ZF with the Nikkor Z35mm F/1.4, placed an ND filter on the front as I was going to shoot at F/1.4 the whole shoot, and set my Black And White switch to my Premium Dreamy Peep recipe and my colour recipe in the photography position to Premium Vivid Punch.
All images are straight from camera, and a bit larger than usual as I try the size and look of larger image files. They have been converted to the .webp file format to save on space.
My monochrome images are meant to be dark and moody with the recipe, and I think they have achieved that look, with dark shadows and bright highlights.

My colour recipe of choice today is one I really like when there are no people in the images.

I think the shutter therapy helped a little. And the joy of just using the images without editing is something I do not do as often these days, but which I should! Sometimes it is nice just to get out there with the camera and have no plan, just walk around and snap.

Don’t underestimate the value of shutter therapy. It is a good way to break the lethargy of a cold grey day and you managed some interesting captures Mark. Happy Tuesday. Allan

Shutter therapy… I’m pretty sure I’ve heard that phrase before, I think … Robin Wong. In the end, it really comes down to slowing down, clearing your head, and getting away from the daily routine for a while. Living by the coast certainly helps with that, even without a camera. The camera just gives the mind something else to focus on, making it a little easier to leave everyday worries behind for an hour or two.

“Shutter Therapy” was a photography group I ran many years ago! Funny enough, I seen a Robin Wong video on YouTube not so long ago and heard him use it. It’s something we still refer to our group, I think it’s a popular phrase for good reason. It’s nice to not be in “work” mode now and again, be it taking out groups of people, or weddings, or tutoring.
I’ve had a really light head for the last few days and I felt a migraine coming on. I think it’s helped letting off steam via the shutter button!
Thanks Marc.
