Can you believe that it is one year since my book “Alleys, Art And Architecture”? To celebrate this anniversary, I am giving away the PDF version of the book. Of course, the PDF version, which is digital does not do the book and images any justice at all, however it will give you a glimpse of my first major photography book project.
I had a vision of this book, and this press release and book opening explains it well:
“From mid-April 2023 through to mid-May 2023 I decided to document aspects of the Aberavon and Sandfields areas of Port Talbot. It is a fascinating estate, that is has areas that are transitioning from the old, rundown decaying areas that they became, into new and exciting areas where people can be proud to live.
The book starts by looking at the “Alleys” and captures some fascinating areas. In places it is quite grim, lacking in colour but certainly not in character. It is as if we have stepped back in time, in an old traditional Welsh landscape.
Moving through the book we move onto “Art”. In amongst all the very monochrome and colour lacking back alleyways, we find glimpses of colour from pieces of graffiti and commissioned art pieces. Suddenly, the landscape is not as bleak as one might think.
Finishing off the project is “Architecture”. It is a fine way to end the book, we see the old buildings and some very new buildings, living side by side. It is a juxtaposition that really can tell a story just be looking at your surroundings.
The pictures will tell you the story, there are no words other than the chapter headings, although there is an index at the back of the book with locations of the areas these images we taken.
Step inside “Alleys, Art & Architecture” now, and revisit in time to see how this document of this small area has changed. These images will be forever this area, this Welsh landscape.”
I sold all the copies of the book that I had over 6 or 7 printing runs (totalling around 50 books) at no profit, as it was just a project that I wanted to share. You can now find copies at the local Port Talbot libraries in print, and I can print the books on demand if needed.

Thank you, my year long project of selfies will be my biggest book to date, but will be free for family’s and friends. I do intend to do another photo book though at one point.
