Aberavon Walk 06-07-20 with 85mm lens.

The first day where the five mile restrictions are eased, and headed a few hundred yards down the road. Although I didn’t walk far, it seems the beach attracted people from far and wide, and it was a really busy day with a busy prom. I decided to use my Fujifilm X-T20 with my Viltrox 85mm F/1.8 lens only, as I had not had time to use it properly due to the lockdown. I was impressed with the results too! Super sharp, with a nice depth of field, the photographs were shot using my Fujichrome R100 colour recipe and edited in Photoscape, where I used the Leicester filter on top of them to bring an even more old-skool feel to the photos.

It was great to be out, and I shared company with my friend Thomas Williams. The walk took around two hours as we walked the length of the prom and back more or less. Considering the are social distancing guidelines in place, it was extremely hard to keep a 2m distance from anybody at some stages of the walk. However, we were careful.

Overall I was impressed by the lens, although as a walk around lens, 85mm on a crop sensor body is quite hard to work with. I do feel however that it game me something different. Lovely bokeh behind main subjects, nice contrast and a really nice feel to each image.
