Merry Christmas

It’s Day 12 of “12 Days Of Christmas” and this is a really simple one. You’ll find polls up on the various Facebook groups, but for this I just want to thank you all for your support, and take a few moments to let you know about what’s coming up in 2022.

2021 has been a great year, and one of change for me. Here are a few of my highlights of the journey so far.

* For the first time in many many decades I decided to start photographing with instant film. I purchased an Instax Mini 70 in January which I fell in love with and a few months later I bought an Instax SQ6. I’m in love with instant photography, it captures images like nothing else, and it’s quite unique compared to others who shoot 35mm film. I shot my last time of film in 2020, some Ilford black and white, but I want be going back to 35mm anytime soon.

* I photographed more and more in camera picture profiles (known as recipes in Fujifilm), getting it right in camera. And have moved onto shooting in square format. I intend to slightly tweak this in 2022, photographing always in square format (this will be the jpeg and recipe) while having the raw file for different edits.

* I’ve kept to one camera one lens all year, keeping things very light. Next year though I’ll be using a tripod much more, in combination with ND filters and infrared fillers. I’ll be experimenting with other things that I used to do many years ago, such as focus stacking and double exposures. Plus doing much more with HDR.

* My only gear purchase will be the Fujifilm Instax Evo… I’ve previewed this camera recently, and it looks amazing!

Anyway, Merry Christmas Everybody! Keeping this short as it’s a family day.
