A New Lens And A Family Photoshoot

I’m currently doing a 30-day photography challenge, and the first day of the challenge was to take a self-portrait. As I had all my camera gear set-up, it gave me a good excuse to do two additional things for the day. Firstly, do a photo shoot of my boys, and secondly, try out my new lens!

First things first, I have bought a new lens. Since I sold my Olympus camera and lenses, it left me without a wider angle zoom lens (I used primes on my Fujifilm at 7.5, 13, 23 and 56mm) so I had a void that needed filling. I chose the Fujifilm XF16-80 F4 lens, which I had at a great price, brand new in box. Being the equivalent to a 24-120mm full frame lens, it really does cover all the basis, and with a fixed aperture of F4, it is a great general use lens.

As I mentioned, I am doing a 30-day photography challenge, which started on the 2nd November. The results of my personal challenge will be shared with you at the beginning of November, so stay tuned for that. As I had the opportunity, I decided to get the boys and get some photos of them. All images were taken using the Fujifilm X-T3 and XF16-80mm.

For lightening I used two fixed photography lights, one a strip light, one a circular light. Both lights were set to cool lighting and placed either side of the boys. I used a black backdrop behind them, plus I used the flash which I bounced off various sides of the room for various effects.

I edited the images in ON1 Photo Raw 2023.5 which I tend to use for portrait photography as it has some really good AI masking features. Further editing was completed in Photoscape X Pro. I really the photoshoot with the boys, and editing their images, the outtakes were so funny!

Hopefully you enjoy these as much as I enjoyed taking them! Do not forget, if you like what you see, please like, comment and subscribe!
