This question is always a very interesting one. We ask it yearly, and the results do differ. However, this year we had our biggest response yet, with over 250 people getting involved from all walks of photography.
Our question was simple: What you are currently taking photographs using? Jpeg, raw, both or other (as some cameras can use different formats).
To choose from, there were these four answers:
- jpeg
- raw
- jpeg & raw
- Other
We ran the poll for three days over three very unique photography groups and had a total of 260 votes. The results were as follows, in order of less popular to most popular are as follows.
“Other” this includes formats other than jpeg and raw – 1%
“raw” this is for raw only in camera – 13%
“jpeg” this is for jpeg only in camera – 26%
“jpeg & raw” this is for jpeg and raw in camera – 60%
Personally, I do not think this is much of a surprise. Almost every person I take photographs with uses the flexability of taking photographs in both raw and jpeg. It just makes so much sense, especially if you are keeping all your images and maybe want to share them straight from Google Photos etc.
