An End Of Year Meet At Bryngarw In The Rain

It has been a long, hard, eventful year with my photography and with my group “Photography Adventures Wales”. Usually, for the last meet of the year we visit Mumbles in Swansea, but this year, there was a bit of a change of location and we visited the beautiful Bryngarw Country Park near Bridgend in South Wales.

Back to its routes, the group braved the weather in sometimes torrential rain to take photographs, share ideas and enjoy the moment, all finished off with us taking over the cafe and having drinks and food. As a final meet of the year, we reflected on the year (there will be a yearly review coming next week), happy in the fact that after a little mishap that seen the group keep the ones interested in photography and taking photographs and losing the ones that wanted other things, we finished the year in a far better position than when we started the year, with new faces, new found optimism for getting the most out of photography and new found friends as we build up relationships with other groups and share our events with a much larger audience.

The first set of photographs were taken with the Fujifilm X-T3 with the XC50-230mm lens, while the second set were taken with my Honor P90 phone. All images were edited in ON1 Photo Raw 2024 Max.

I took a few images with the phone as the rain was so bad I had to hide my camera away on a few occasions.

And that, is possibly the final meet of 2023 with the group. It has been a year of ups and downs, a year where I have been ill, and I found out who my true friends are as they stood by while others took the opportunity to move on, rather than talk to me and help me through the period when I needed help most. Thankfully, that is behind me now, as I am fixed after a dozen or so visits to the doctors and hospital.

Look out for next week, where there will be an end of year review, plus a lot more. There are no plans for a “12 Days Of Christmas” this year, like I have done every year for the last 5 or so years, as I step back and enjoy my other passions in life and spend time with the family.

Until next time, see you all soon.

  1. Despite the bad weather you still managed to take a beautiful photo series, and there are some gems among them.
It is always in difficult times that one meets true friends.
    We know the feeling.
The most important thing is that you are on top of it.
Barely a fortnight until Christmas, and it’s that time again!
it feels strange this year, summer lasted until early October here, and suddenly winter was here, and now the year is almost over.
Time flies faster as you get older.
