As I sit and write this, I look back upon the 6 years I’ve had with Fujifilm. A brilliant ecosystem, fantastic cameras and I’ve taken some amazing images. So much so, you can see when looking through my images the very moment I swapped from Nikon to Fujifilm.
I currently have no main camera in the house, the DPD driver came to collect my package yesterday, filled with my Fujifilm X-T3 and all my lenses. In one way it was sad to see it go, but the thought of a new chapter ahead fills me with joy.
The one thing I’ve missed since my film days, and earlier days with digital cameras is full frame. And another thing I’ve missed is Nikon. Yes, the very Nikon I left all those years ago, I will be returning to.
Why? I hear you ask. Well, I left Nikon as I wanted a smaller camera, and at the time, the cheapest and easiest way to achieve this was to go with Fujifilm. For my photography at the time, this was perfect, as I was always on the move, and the smaller camera and one camera one lens approach worked well for me.
Since last year though, I’ve been yearning to get back into the photography I really like. Unrushed, relaxing strolls with time to take images the way I want to take them. On top of this, I just want more out of the camera. I think we all know the limitations of APSC sensors, and I had always worked around these limitations. However, with full frame, suddenly I don’t have to worry about shooting at above ISO6400 or darker environments, I don’t have to use a fisheye lens to get ultra wide images, I’ll have more dynamic range and better raw files to play with and one thing I’ve really missed, the natural colour rendition of Nikon cameras.
This wasn’t an easy decision, but my trade in value was so good, and the deal I had with the new camera was second to none.
I’ll have a full reveal with images when I receive my camera in the next 5-7 days (not including weekends). Things are held up a bit as DPD made a mistake when collecting my items and the delivery to their destination got messed up. Hopefully this is now all fixed.
Oh! The camera… A Nikon Z6II with 4 lenses (which, if you’re a regular to the site, you might have seen listed in detail on my “about” page). More to come soon.

Mark, I have to say Great article mate, as an Old Canon & Nikon FF user… That switched to old Fuji xt1/2,s. I Miss that big old sensor…So all the best with New Purchases …Slow Photography Is the way to go, make that shutter button bring you much joy I’m Very Very envious 🤓.
Look forward to seeing some awesome images and keep up with the Black & Whites 👍News
