A Visit To The Quaint Village Of Cowbridge

Cowbridge, known as “Y Bont-Faen” in Welsh, is a market town in the Vale of Glamorgan, Wales. It is centrally located about 10 miles (16 km) west of Cardiff. The community of Llanblethian is often associated with Cowbridge. The town dates back to the 14th century and has a rich history. The town’s name translates as “the stone bridge” in Welsh, reflecting its historical significance and heritage.

I was armed with my Nikon Z6ii and the 24-70 F/4 lens, and took around 100 photos of this splendid area. I don’t feel I have to take as many photos with this camera, the room for error is much smaller with so much dynamic range, and the viewfinder really is a joy to use when composing my images.

Images (the raw files) were edited in ON1 Photo Raw 2024 Max, and as usual, clicking on them gives you more detail. This lens is so sharp, that I actually have to turn any sharpening down in post on some images!

It was a fantastic day out, and we didn’t even get time to look around the shops in the area, but I am sure that will be another visit, another time but this time with my wife! Unbelievably, this was the first time I had ever stopped and visited Cowbridge, although I had driven through the area on a number of occasions.

I’m sure you are all wondering how the camera performed and how it was using it. Well, I was more than happy with the autofocus, the settings used, how easy it was to adjust things and its overall use. Everything was shot at ISO100, strangely, I have come off auto-ISO on this camera for the majority of the time, and use it in aperture priority, adjusting the aperture with the lens ring. It is a fantastic experience, and I am glad that Z lenses all have aperture ring capability!

Until next time, please, as always, like, comment and subscribe, as it really does help keep me going.

    1. It was by pure luck that I discovered that he function wheel can be used for exposure compensation, aperture or focus! Very handy and works for all Z lenses! Thank you very much, always appreciated as you know.
