We sorted out a last-minute portrait shoot with our model Ffion, and headed out to my local beach front for a few hours with the cameras and lights and a unique (for me) model, who also could perform gymnastics. It was great to have a local and talented full-time proffesional photographer with us too, who I learned a lot from.
I used my Nikon Z6ii along with two lenses on this photoshoot, the new Viltrox 85mm F/1.8 along with my trusty Nion Z40mm. I really enjoyed using the 85mm lens, and I can see why so many people rave about that focal length, however, I do absolutely love the 40mm focal length!
Our model was Ffion Colwill (Instagram @Ffion_Colwill) and she was extremely talented! I would like to thank her for her time. I will udate this blog with more information about her in the coming days.
Here are the edited images. I went for a certain look I was after, that I knew I wanted before the shoot took place. All images were edited in Photoshop.

Overall I am very happy with the images, and the look that I had from them, and I am looking forward to our next portrait session!

Capturing images of people has never been my thing. It’s not that the outcomes are poor; they simply reflect what any ordinary person could achieve. Hence, I quickly recognize professional touch in portrait shots or any images featuring people. Every single one of these photographs, without exception, bears the look of a seasoned professional. So, when you express that you’ve gained insights, I can fully comprehend – it’s abundantly clear. Exceptional work, Mark!
