It was a great privilege to be hired to photograph the wedding of a lovely couple. We had to cover the ceremony and do a few after-wedding photographs as a surprise from the brides mother Lisa. It was such a great experience! The adrenalin was pumping, and the venue really pushed me and the camera to its limits.
I wrote this on my Facebook Photography Page and it is easier just to share this with you here;
“Yesterday I, along with Andrew of BamBam Photography was lucky enough to shoot a lovely wedding for Lauren and Macaulay. I’ll share some more of the final images once the lovely couple have received their images off us. In the meantime time I thought I would share some facts about the equipment and settings etc that I used.
I took my Nikon Z6ii and a selection of three lenses. The Nikon Z40mm F/2, Nikon Z24-70mm F/4 and the Viltrox 85mm F/1.8 and also my Godox flash and trigger. When I got to the event I armed myself with the Z6ii and Z40mm and my trigger ready for a flash.
As it happens, the wedding was great discovery for me as I didn’t once feel inclined to change lenses! The Z40mm was perfect, feeling like a 35mm for capturing wide angles and long enough feeling like a 50mm for further subjects. It really is the sweet spot, and I can see why people love it.
I shot in aperture priority, with a minimum shutter speed set at 1/80 and maximum ISO and ISO6400. As I shot at F/2 for 95% of the images (F/4 for the couple I did not use F/2), my ISO did not creep past ISO400.
When I switched to using a flash outside (it was prohibited in the venue), I used a Godox AD200 which Andrew carried on a pole so we could get the light off camera as needed. Again, as I was outside and in changing light, I kept my aperture priority mode, and also used the Godox flash in TTL mode, giving incredibly consistent results.
Images were then edited in Photoshop Adobe Camera Raw using the standard Nikon colour profile and using the brides trousers to set colour balance slightly cooler than the cameras rather warm colours when on auto-WB.
I hope you enjoyed this little bit of information.”
And here are 10 of my favourite images from the wedding. Obviously, I can not share all the images, as the clients have only just received their immages.

I wanted to capture the fun loving couple in pictures, so I included quite a few funny images which were in the vein of the proceedings, as well as the usual, serious images of course. Again, it is great to put all we have learned over the years into creating images that I am more than happy with.
The families and friends of this wonderful couple were really nice, and we really enjoyed our few hours with them. It is so nice that when you do something you love, it does not feel like a job!

Very well done! I was surprise the women weren’t wearing hats though. 😊

It was a very laid back wedding, you don’t tend to see people wearing hats so much these days in weddings.
