I do not think I have ever shot images from such vastly different focal lengths in one day! Today I used my new 7Artisan 14mm F/2.8 lens, alongside my Tamron 150-500mm lens on my Nikon Z6ii. It was a great day, and I managed to take some great images!
Kenfig Pool is the largest natural lake in Glamorgan, Wales, located within the Kenfig National Nature Reserve. The reserve is a designated Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI) due to its impressive sand dunes and the rare wildlife it supports, including the Fen Orchid and various invertebrates. The pool itself is an important habitat for migrating birds and boasts a rich aquatic ecosystem. Its formation is linked to the wild storms and shifting sands of the 13th to 15th centuries, which buried the medieval borough of Kenfig and its castle. As a result, the pool is steeped in local folklore, with legends claiming that a lost city lies submerged beneath its waters, and that the bell of a drowned church can still be heard on stormy nights. Kenfig Pool offers visitors a unique blend of natural beauty, historical intrigue, and diverse wildlife.
All images were edited in Darktable… More on the new lens after these images.

The weather started quite overcast, and there was even a little chill in the wind. However, by the time we got to the pool, it had warmed up nicely. We walked around this huge natural pool, which took roughly 7000 steps, and we had some great photo opportunities.
My hope was to capture the “lone tree” with a little water around it as it usually is, but because of the hot weather and lack of rain, for the first time in many years, the tree was not in the water!
The first 9 images were taken with the 7Artisan 14mm F/2.8, zero distortion lens (you will see a little bit close up on the straights, but I did not try and correct this today(. It is a manual lens, and such fun to use. Primarily I will be using it with architecture and extreme fun portraits, but these are just the initial test images.
I hope you enjoyed the images! Comments are most welcome.

Ben, nice post. Do you have a post some place which contrast dark table with Photoshop or Lightroom?

I don’t have a post comparing Darktable to Photoshop/Lightroom as they are very different. However it is something I have been thinking of doing. Thank you.
