Retropia Archivist Camera Bag – Real Use Review

I always love my camera bags. I own quite a few, and they all have their uses. From my backpack that I use to store all my lenses, to my daily carries which are over the shoulder bags. However, Retropia sent me their very stylish and practical Retropia Archivist Camera Bag.

“The Design”

I chose the larger of the options, as I shoot full frame, and although mirrorless cameras are not as big as old DSLR cameras, I wanted to be sure there was enough room for my needs. This bag is more than big enough for my Nikon ZF/Z6ii cameras, and will be plenty spacious for smaller cameras.

If you would like to purchase the bag, it is available from Retropia

Measuring 34cm x 13.5cm x 24cm, the bag has plenty of room to hold a Nikon camera with lens attached and two spare lenses. It also has two large pockets in the front which be hold your batteries and filters etc, very handy! Plus a pocket on the back of the bag big enough to hold maps or paperwork.

The strap is adjustable and even at my tall height I can adjust it so that the bag falls to my hip when standing. The buckles and connections are all brass and metal and seem to be very sturdy. There is a great shoulder attached for added comfort too.

“In Practical Use”

The bag is genuinely a comfort to carry, and the compartments (which are adjustable) are a good size. I can comfortably hold my Nikon ZF with my biggest standard lens attached (Tamron Z90mm Macro) and up to 2 other lenses (held either side of the central compartment).

Access to the inside of the bag is quick and easy with magnetic poppers, which have a strong magnetic attachment and feel very sturdy.

It has to be noted that the shoulder pad is very nice. It’s strong and study, and comfortable during extended periods of use. A real pleasure to use.

“Conclusion”

I was supplied the bag free of charge, and Retropia did not ask for a review or tell me to say anything about the camera. All my thoughts are my own and based on actual use.

I like the bag, I chose the larger of the two bags and I am really happy with it overall. It is a beautiful bag, well made and spacious.

If you would like to purchase the bag, it is available from Retropia and you will get a discount and more from ordering when clicking directly from that link!

    1. I actually prefer magnetic poppers, these are really strong too and make it easy for quick access. Thieves of course will be thieves. Thanks for the reply.
