This was a wonderful shoot with our model Imogen. As you remember from a couple of days ago, I already posted a number of unedited images which you can find here. Here are the final edits of the session, and there are quite a few of these images that I really like more than when I first seen them on the back of the camera!
As I already mentioned in my previous post, I used the Nikon Z6ii with the Tamron 90mm F/2.8 Macro for the portraits, this had the Godox TT685N flash on-top, while my Nikon ZF with the Nikkor 35mm F/1.4 had the tiny Godox IM22 attached. It was really an experiment, and all resulting photographs were just a bonus!

This was using the Godox TT685N flash on-camera, bouncing the light or aiming above Imogen.

This was using the tiny little Godox IM22 flash. My aim for most of these (especially the urban images) was to get a retro-2000’s flash effect, but not as intense! – Note, a couple of the beach shots were with the off-camera flash as I had not tried the trigger on the ZF before this point.

All these images were edited in ON1 Photo Raw 2025 Max, which I tend to use for a lot of my portrait work these days. On reflection, I would have been more than happy to use the out of camera jpegs if I did not have to supply images to Imogen. I really liked how the Nikon ZF process the colours I set-up in camera.
I hope you enjoyed this little series, please leave me feedback, like and subscribe!

Great series, Mark! I had a feeling that Tamron would shine here—macro or not, it’s still a 90mm, and on full frame that’s just perfect for portraits. Nicely done, Mark!

Thank you Marc, yeah, I really like portraits and people with 85mm or so, so I knew I would love it. My favourite shots from the day are in the 35mm section, the last one particular.
