Those of you who know me, know for the last month I have been working on images for my new project titled “Prom People”. It is a summer project, based on people along the promenade and at local beaches, that will end in a printed photobook and a digital booklet. I have already taken a number of images for the project, some of which have been shared on social media, and today I decided to pop out and take more images as the weather was perfect!
For the image, my aim is to use the Nikon ZF and Z40mm F/2 lens as much as possible, although, given the opportunities I may have in front of me, I may also use my Z6ii or phone or any other lens. So far I have used the ZF for all but 5 images, so it is going well!
The project is strictly straight from camera jpegs, only cropped or straightened as needed. Because the Z6ii and phone do not use the same colour profile I will be using (MGA Nostalgic), they will usually be edited down to monochrome.
My recipe MGA Nostalgic has become one of my favourites, it can be downloaded from here along with my other Nikon recipes. Here are a few images from today for you to have a sneak-peek at!

I’m going for a certain style with this project, including blurred people mixed with front facing people (something I am usually quite afraid to do!). And hopefully, when it is finished, it will be a documentary of life in South Wales over the summer of 2025!
I hope you enjoyed this little taster! Until next time, thank you for viewing.

Nice dark contrasty colors, I’ll have to try this one out on my z6iii (but you are making me want my Zf back that I had last year ugh)!

To be honest, I LOVE the ZF 😂 Thank you, give it a whirl, it’s become one of my favourite recipes to use.

that’s the problem… I used it most of 2024 and had to part ways to make room for other gear, but I was pretty much sorry I did so from the moment I said goodbye. Now it’s almost a year later and I’m still going….. why did I sell that… lol
I think there’s a new Zf on my horizon before the end of the year… hopefully.
