Yesterday I visited Swansea and took some stunning images with my Nikon ZF and the lovely Z 20mm F/2.8 lens. Picture quality is stunning, and the images are beautiful from the large full frame sensor. What I did not mention in yesterdays post was that I also shot the say on my Panasonic Lumix FS-10 point and shoot camera which was released it 2010.
Yes, I have shared many old CCD point and shoot cameras on this website, but I keep coming back to using the Lumix FS-10 for a number of reasons. By todays standards and specifications, this camera is crap! But unlike every camera today, it fits in the palm of my hand, has a huge optical zoom and in good light, the images look amazing!
Having seen yesterdays images from my Nikon, here are a selection of images I took with this ancient little piece of crap.
Ok! It is not a piece of crap really… As you may have known from previous posts, I have made it my everyday carry monochrome camera, because the jpegs are lovely! Of course it does take colour images and I have shared many in the past. Here is one from yesterday.
I have decided though, to use the camera with the intention of only using the black and white colour profile (unless I want examples or specific colour images). There is no going back, and that means you only take the shot if you really want it.
So, the idea of this blog really is, your old camera is MUCH better than you thought it was. It may suffer in low light, but the on-camera flash gives a fantastic look, so don’t be afraid to use it. Your images will have an organic feel not felt today, with imperfections that make it just perfect.
Your old camera is crap! A piece of shit! But long live those cameras laying in cupboards and drawers abandoned for new fancy cameras. Embrace the point and shoot, full auto, jpeg only goodness of crappy old CCD point and shoot cameras. Most importantly, don’t edit them, and enjoy them for what they are!
