A Quick Visit To The Pier

Today I did not intend to go out to take many photos, and I did not take many photos. However, my friend and myself decided to do a little reccy-trip to check out our location for next weeks group meet. I decided to use the opportunity to try out a few things before next weeks main shoot.

I took my Nikon ZF and the Viltrox 20mm F/2.8 and I had a little variable ND filter in my bag. All images are straight from camera 16:9 ratio images for the landscape orientation, and 5:4 crops of the portrait orientation images. I used my Premium Vivid Punch recipe and absolutely no editing took place other than the crop.

Here are the images from the day. All EXIF data should be with the images if you click on them.

This is exactly what I have been trying to do. After a bit of inspiration watching a video on YouTube about film photography over the last few days, I thought I would expose 2/3 stops above exposure, and it worked really well with the ZF!

Next week I will be back at this location for a much longer time, and I will be taking my tripod and using the Z24-70mm and 10-stop filter.

  1. Hey Mark, lovely series, especially the one with the ND filter and the pier. I couldn’t find any EXIF data though – probably stripped during cropping. Just thought I’d mention it.

      1. I checked it on my side as well. I’m seeing the same thing on my own pages when I use WebP: better compression, sometimes even nicer colour rendering on WordPress, but no visible EXIF.
JPEGs behave as expected, WebP not so much, at least on WP. So you’re not imagining things.
