A Quick Stop In A Beautiful Location – Penclawdd

We had to visit Gower in Swansea this week, and when we had to pop back to finish some business I knew it was a perfect day to bring my camera. Penclawdd is a little village that sites on the Lougher Estuary in the Gower Peninsular and it is a place of outstanding natural beauty.

I grabbed my Nikon ZF, which had the Tamron 16-30mm attached, and I stopped off at two points on our journey to take a total of six images! Here are four images that I processed from the day using Lumiar Neo.

“George 2” sits on the estuary among some other little fishing boats.

The little white boat sits in the vast void, this area is a huge tidal estuary that floods quickly.

More boats just waiting for the tide.

This image gives an idea of the huge expanse of the area.

As you can see, once again I have chosen to use a wide aspect ratio, this time 21:9. With such a huge landscape in front of me, and a wide lens, so much of the image is only sky or foreground, so it just made sense. Next time I come here, I will bring my 150-500mm for this vast landscape, and the outstanding amount of rare and beautiful sea based birds that the area is known for.

  1. Nice series, Mark ! Did you intentionally make the photos non-clickable? With that wide field of view, enlarging them is exactly what you feel like doing. Either way, just so you know.
    Best,
