16,000 steps, a good few hours, 892 feet (272m) and a pub grub later we had a lovely day together as a family. Walking from where we parked at The Loft pub, situated below the mountain, we took the winding paths though sun, rain, wind and the kids being kids, and made it to the top to the prehistoric standing stone at the top of the mountain (called Carreg Bica).
Yes, I took a lot of photos, 146 in total, but here are my favourites. It is time, and moments like these that capture things that will last in your memory forever, and the beautiful autumnal colours really helped us enjoy an already beautiful place.
The sequence of the photographs actually follow our journey, so kick back and enjoy them. Feel free to look at them full screen.

I took my Nikon ZF with the Z50mm F/1.4 lens attached. All the images are straight from camera in Nikon’s Standard colour profile (with saturation +2), which I almost always use when I just want memories to capture moments as they were.
Yes, it was as cold as it looked, we had a lot of rain showers and the sun was in and out every few seconds. We got wet, we dried off and got wet again. But sitting in the restaurant at the end was worth it, where I enjoyed my burger and fries, the boys and the wife enjoyed their food… and of course our nice cool drinks to cool us off.

Looks like a stunning place – and that’s one impressive rock! Great family shots too, warm and sunny feel all around. Nicely done, Mark!

It looks like it was a wonderful day out for you all. The selective close ups of the fungi and flying leaves are awesome. I loved the variety of fungi you have! The standing stone is cool!

I can only dream about days like that in Australia in +42°C and 94% humidity. 🙂 What beautiful colours, beautiful family document!
