Chasing The Tide At Mumbles

Having visited Swansea, and the beautiful area of Mumbles last week at low tide, only a few days later we knew the tide would be high so we just had to go back! This time I knew I wanted to get the compositions in a slightly different way, so I packed my bag and headed off with my friend David.

I took my Nikon ZF, but instead of using my Viltrox Z20mm F/2.8 I decided to use my Nikkor Z24-70mm. I also attached my Pig Iron 10 stop ND filter for long exposures, and for the whole of the day I used the filter.

All images were edited in Luminar Neo, and quite a few of the images are focus stacked images combining 2 or more images.

I, unusually for me, decided to do a couple of monochrome edits as well as my usual colour edits. No fancy colour grading today, just realistic colours that capture the day. I really should use the Nikkor Z24-70mm F/4 more often, it is such a great lens, and clinically pin-sharp to go with it.

I hope you enjoyed these, and I look forward to sharing more with you very soon. In the meantime, from December 13th we have “12 Days Of Christmas” planned, so make sure you stay tuned for some amazing articles!

  1. Hey Mark, I said last time that the potential in that pier was huge, and here we are. Two stunning shots right out of the gate, and the lighthouse with the sea and rocks is gorgeous too. But that pier with the little houses… absolutely breathtaking, especially the black-and-white version. Well done, Mark. A truly beautiful series !
