Reset: YouTube And Photography – Here Is The Plan

2026 has started nice and slow. So slow in fact that I have only done one photography shoot. However, it is all part of the great reset that I have been working on for the last 12 months. Today we will look at what is happening and what the future brings.

The YouTube change

Regular viewers of my YouTube channel would notice that content almost dried up at the latter past of last year, however, for most of January I have been posting a YouTube Short every day, or every other day. I realise that I have a lot of small things to share that can be shown in YouTube Shorts, and it is working quite nicely.

I also have a plan for a series of YouTube videos. I have been building up quite a lot of photography related Temu items, so once my next haul gets here, I will be doing longer length YouTube videos based on these purchases. Are they any good? How much did they cost? Do I use them? All this and more, and of course there will also be a companion article to accompany that videos, so bonus content!

I also intend to do more lens and camera reviews, these go down really well, and it will also give me an opportunity to go out and use what I am reviewing.

The Photography change

As I mentioned, I have only done one photoshoot this year, and that was a portrait shoot in the middle of January (that you can view here). A lot to do with it has been the weather of course, but this year I do not want to just wander around aimlessly with a camera and take the same old same photos that I have done for years. I want to to do what I want to do, when I want to do it.

I want to concentrate more on getting beautiful images. I want to concentrate on filling my photo albums with memorable family images. I want to concentrate on the weddings and events planned for this year. Most of all I just want to up my game.

Other changes

As for other changes, I want to release more quality content on this website, including the reviews I have mentioned, and more hints, tips and guides about Darktable and other software.

I have also been thinking of losing the One Camera One Lens name and reverting back to Mark G Adams Photography. It is a change I have to think about though. As I said, this is the final stages of my reset, so I want to get things right, and right first time.

  1. Just one small thought Mark, about the name or domain change. If the domain stays the same and only the title changes, most followers won’t even notice a difference. Once the domain itself changes, though, things can shift a bit – not necessarily in a dramatic way, but enough to matter. Loyal readers like me, and many others, will usually come along without hesitation, but not everyone does. On my old domain I announced the move months in advance, and even then only a limited number actually followed to the new site. Maybe that won’t play a big role in your case, but it’s still something worth keeping in mind. You’re very closely associated with One Camera One Lens, especially in combination with your film simulations, and that kind of recognition is built slowly and can be fragile. I’d be cautious with it.

    1. Thank you Marc, yes, that is something that has crossed my mind. And needs some serious consideration.

Maybe the website name can stay the same and it’ll be “One Camera One Lens, home of…”. There’s a lot to think about! You’re right!!!
