An Autumn Walk With The ZF And Z50mm 1.4 Lens. Straight From Camera.

Today was just about getting out with a few friends, and using two of my recipes (Kodachrome 2025 and Summer Memories) to capture images and having a bit of fun. No editing, no cropping, no corrections, just straight from camera images.

We decided to head up to Afan Argoed, through the forest trail, to the café and back along the cycle-path trail of the old railway line. Before I even started today, I knew I wanted to take the Nikon ZF along with the Z50mm F/1.4 lens and just take photos of things I liked.

Images have been resized and I have saved them in format .webp format to preserve the colours as accurately as possible.

Here are the MGA Kodachrome 2025 images.

And here are the images I took in MGA Summer Memories:

They are two very contrasting looks, and both have their uses. Of course you can always edit raw files, but nothing beats getting it right in camera. Here the MGA Kodachrome images have that autumnal saturation of colours and the beauty that brings, while the MGA Summer Memories recipe is giving a warm glow, again autumnal, but a very different look.

If you would like to use these recipes on your Nikon Z camera, do not forget that you can download them from onecameraonelens.com/nikon, where there is a huge selection of great recipes to choose from!

  1. My favourite time of the year looks so good with the “Summer Memories” recipe.* – better grammar … I am sorry Mark can you please edit my terrible grammar, I do not know what happened. 😦

  2. What a fantastic setting, Mark – you really caught the atmosphere of the place. Photo number 4 is my personal favourite, and in both film simulations, it shines. The Kodachrome version nails that unmistakable Kodak vibe: rich tones, deep contrast, and that slightly moody autumn feel. The Summer Memories version, though, wraps everything in a softer, golden warmth that feels just right for the season – it complements the landscape and those fallen leaves beautifully.

A wonderful series that really shows what each simulation does and how differently they tell the same story. I promised a new section on my site for these profiles last week – it’s still coming, just taking me a bit longer this year… maybe the cleanup work got heavier, or maybe I just got slower 😂 Either way, it’ll be up soon.

Top work, Mark – brilliant series!
    All the best,
    Marc
