For the last couple of years, I’ve been obsessed with getting things right in camera and using straight out of camera (sooc) images wherever possible. Its 2023 and I’ve decided to start editing much more. Funny thing is, for the last few months I’ve been editing a raw files a lot more anyway, but I wanted to find a style that I like, and the following images are experiments I’ve been recently playing with.
All images are edited in Darktable (the raw or jpeg editing) and Gimp (effects). I also used Photoscape X Pro on one or two images for a border or effects. You may have noticed I said I used Darktable for a jpeg in my first sentence, that is because I liked the jpeg colours that I had, and I didn’t want to start from scratch and try and match those colours. If a jpeg is already close to perfection, and you’re not messing about too much, then using jpeg images is perfectly fine in Darktable.

Please feel free to click on the images to see them at their full size. You will have a better idea of the edits that took place then. I am not going to give away my secrets at the moment, but it involves a blur technique and layers. I will do a video on this in the coming days as I have some free time coming up that will allow me to make a video or two.
Images were taken with both the Fujifilm X-T3 and the Olympus E-PL8. I hope you like the results, as I will be experimenting more with it throughout the year. I think it adds a classy look to the images.
If you have any questions, please feel free to ask! Until next time, bye for now!
